Based on the experience of the trials with a prototype of rock milling head for small cutter dredgers a concept is ready to make it possible for small cutter dredgers to cut hard rock at low cost. The benefit of this system will be higher for small projects: for rock dredging projects with reduced volumes, the mobilisation cost of a large CSD will be very high compared to the execution cost of the project. The possibility to do such a job with a small to medium CSD will generate an important cost reduction.

The idea is to have a system that can be deployed easily and rapidly on a small to medium CSD.
